Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10th at 9:30am at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral home, Inc. and continue at 10:00am at St. Christine's Church for Carmel J Yozwiak, 91, who passed away on Wednesday.
she was born April 9, 1924 in Youngstown, OH, daughter of Dominic Lefoer and Angela Bellino.
She was employed at General Fireproofing during WWII manufacturing airplanes for the war effort. In the 1960's and 1970's and worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube just as her father did. She became the countries first female machinist. She later taught Elementary reading in the Youngstown City Schools. She was a member of St. Christine church where she was a founding member. She was also active in Easter Seals Society.
Surviving are two sons; Tom Yozwiak of Canfield, Alfred Yozwiak of Youngstown, two daughters; Nancy (Terry) Mott of Ravenna and Beverly (John) Devine of Copley twp. A brother Dominic (Irene) Lefoer Jr. of Boardman and three sisters; Sally (Dominic) Grace of Canfield, Flora Reese of Austintown and Carol Lefoer of Canfield. She also leaves 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. .
she was preceded in death by her husband; Alfred Yozwiak whom she married June 28, 1947, a brother; Nick Lefoer and five sisters; Virginia Tyler, Nancy Lawman, Theresa Luther, Annette Mills and Marie Penny.
