Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Apostles-Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church, with the Rev. J. Rudjak officiating, for Florence M. Simunic, 81, who entered into rest Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.
Florence was born October 29, 1935, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Shulay) Antal.
A 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Florence worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell, Medical Dental Bureau and Forum Health Center of Youngstown, Ohio.
Florence enjoyed being a homemaker, baking, and cooking, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family, who were a very important part of her life.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church. She enjoyed social memberships with Sts. Peter and Paul Daughters Club and Alter and Rosary Society, The Croatian Pensioner Club of the Mahoning Valley, St. George Croatian Center of Youngstown, and The Saxon Club.
Her husband, Robert M. Simunic, whom she married Oct. 29, 1960, passed away, December 19, 2009.
Florence will be sadly missed by many including her sons, Thomas Simunic (Barbara) of Gainesville, Va., and Ken Simunic of Cleveland; her daughters, Denise DiSalvo (Charles) of Cleveland, Rosemary Chumita (Tom) of Hilliard, OH, and Michelle Greiwe (Mark), of Dublin, OH; her grandchildren, Justin Chumita (Caitlin), LeeAnn Thompson (Zach), Tyler Chumita, Jason Greiwe, Nicole Greiwe, Anthony Simunic, Christine DiSalvo, Khristian Klacik (Peter) and two great-grandsons, Gabriel and Stephen Klacik, along with all her nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brother Leonard J. Antal Sr.
She leaves a sister-in-law, Martha Antal of Poland, a brother, Jerry Antal of Youngstown and Sister-in-law, Mildred Simunic of Austintown.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 3rd, and also 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, November 4th at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass following at 11:30 at Holy Apostles- Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ohio Health Hospice, Columbus, Ohio, or the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.
