Fotios "Fred" Kolias

Fotios “Fred” Kolias passed away surrounded by his family Monday afternoon, at Green Meadows Health and Wellness facility, where he resided for the past 3 years.
Mr. Kolias was born March 21, 1941, in Drama, Greece, the son of the late Kyriakos and Zoie Kolias. He married Fay Kolias Jan. 30, 1966, and came to the United States in October of 1967.
Mr. and Mrs. Kolias had many successful businesses in the area and after many years of hard work are best known for Fred’s New Life Restaurant on Market Street in Youngstown. Mr. Kolias was active in the Greek Macedonian Society and attended St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Fred had a passion for food, fun, and family. He had the ability to bring people together through his cooking and generous nature.
Mr. Kolias is survived by his eldest son, Charles Kolias and his wife, Catherine Kolias of Cranberry Pa.; his daughter, Joyce Kolias and Lee Anne of Arlington Va.; and his son, Michael Kolias and his wife, Patricia Kolias; and two grandchildren, Maria and Freddy Kolias of Louisville, Ohio. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Katina, Anna and Zinovia of Drama, Greece. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, in-laws, and close friends.
Friends may call on Fred at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home at 3100 Canfield Road, Youngstown. Calling hours to be held Thursday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m where a Trisagion service will be held at 6:00pm.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m, friends may call from 10:30 to 11:00 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at 220 North Walnut St, Youngstown.
Interment will follow the services at Belmont Park Cemetery at 3346 Belmont Ave., Liberty Township, OH 44505.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 North Walnut St, Youngstown or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St, Boardman.
