Helen Mohr

May 3, 1921 ~ January 13, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 18th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St. Matthias Church, in Youngstown for Helen Mohr, 94, who passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 13, 2016.
Helen was born May 3, 1921 in New Middletown, the daughter of John and Anna Luchansky Shandor.
She was a self-employed seamstress and homemaker and will always be remembered as one of the best homemade bread and roll bakers in the Mahoning Valley.  Patrons at local bake sales would line up and wait for her to arrive with her fresh out of the oven items which always sold out immediately.  Helen was a member of the church and a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.
She was married to Albert Mohr for sixty-six years prior to his death in 2009.  Helen is survived by daughters, Evelyn (John/Butch) Mihin of Canfield and Barbara (David) Beebe of Canton, a daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Mohr of North Jackson and sisters-in-law, Ruth Shandor of New Middletown and Mary Louise Balogh of Struthers.  In addition she leaves nine grandchildren: Tara (Kevin) Bruns of Galena, Todd Ricciuti of Boardman, Amy (Brett) Douglas of Wake Forest, NC, Robyn (Rob) Culp of Canton, Aubrey Gordon of Greeneville, PA,   Annemarie (Don) Brown of Los Alamos, NM, Stephen (Lynne) Mohr of Austintown,  Jennifer (Steve) Pleasnick of Woodville, Tracey (Christopher) Porter of Beverly Hills, MI and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Albert Jr., brothers George, John, Michael and William Shandor and sisters, Mary Bakalar and Julia Mesaros.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale of Cornersburg for the love and care extended to Helen over the past seven years, especially, throughout her final days.     In addition, the family also extends their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for the services and support they provided.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home on Canfield Road in Cornersburg and 9:00 to 10:00am Monday at Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Matthias Church.   Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
