Welcome to the memorial page for

James A Corroto

June 13, 1952 ~ May 17, 2017 (age 64)

James Anthony Corroto, 64, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, May 17, at his home. A home where he lived his entire life and one in which he took much pride. Rarely, would anyone find a leaf or whirlybird on his lawn. His drive and corner lot sidewalks were always shoveled clear to the cement. At this home, Jim was an important caregiver to his maternal grandmother, his parents, and aunts in their later years.
Born in Youngstown on June 13, 1952, he was the son of Dr. Vincent and RoseMary Corroto.
A 1970 graduate of Chaney High School, Jim honorably served our country, stationed in Germany, from 1972 to 1974.
He worked at Sheet & Tube Steel Mill from 1970 to 1979, then at Tamarkin Co.
Jim worked at SportsWorld from 1995 to 2006. His specialty was keeping the hot rods in great running condition. He took great pride in his knowledge of cars, makes, models and parts.
Surviving siblings include Tom of Boston, Joe (Diane) of Boardman, and Jean Smith of Liberty. “Uncle Bub” to his nieces and nephews and their children, he loved spending time with all of them and endearingly nicknamed each child.
Jim was well versed in the history of Youngstown, and especially the history of World War II.
Jim was considered “Mayor of Kirk Road,” always taking good care of the neighbors, especially as they got older.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, May 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Christine’s Church. A funeral Mass will follow at         11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
