Jerry Kovach went to his heavenly home on Thursday evening, January 26, 2017 surrounded by his family.
          Jerry was born May 19, 1942 in Campbell, OH to Charles and Helen (Epergese) Kovach.

          He was a 1960 graduate of Campbell Memorial. Mr. Kovach served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he married his wife of 48 years, the former Margaret Vanish at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
          He worked at General Motors Lordstown Complex for 34 years, spending the predominance as a Torque Inspector in the Chassis Department.

He enjoyed many leisurely years of retirement. Fishing with his grandchildren, shopping with his wife, dinners and holidays with his family were important to him. He was an active member of St. Christine Parish, an active member of Argus Lodge in Canfield, OH for over 25 years, and belonged to the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Croatian Club Lodge #66 as well as a member of United Auto Workers 1112.
          He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ernest (Ernie) Kovach. He leaves behind one brother Charles M. (Jennifer) Kovach of Cortland, his wife of many loving years Margaret (Vanish) Kovach, one son Jeffrey (Carla) Kovach of Austintown, a daughter Diane (Todd) Robinson of Lewis Center, one grandson Brandon Kovach, and five granddaughters; Amber Kovach, Haley Kovach, Zoey Kovach, Mackenzie Robinson, and  Chloe Robinson.
          The family would like to express thanks to all those at St. Elizabeth Health Center for their hard work in his final days.

For friends and family, calling hours will be held at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home 3100 Canfield Road, Youngstown on Monday, January 30th from 4-7 p.m. with a Masonic ceremony at 6:45pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 31st starting at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. and proceeding to St. Christine at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
