Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Inc. for Joan M Mikulec, 65, who passed away on Sunday, April 30.
She was born May 20, 1951, in Youngstown, daughter of John Mikulec and Anne (Palascak) Mikulec.
Joan was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and Choffin School of Practical Nursing. She received her R.N. from Providence School of Nursing in Sandusky and a B.S.N. from Penn State Shenango.
She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown as an L.P.N. and R.N., Visiting Nurses Association and several skilled nursing homes and health care facilities.
She loved dogs and watching the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, Browns and Minnesota Vikings.
Surviving are a sister, Marcy Galitsky of Austintown; a niece, Melissa Young of Roanoke, Va.; one nephew, Jason (Pamela) Galitsky of Spring Hill, Fla.; and a great- nephew, Carter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Gary Galitsky.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Angels for Animals or the Animal Welfare League.
