John Thomas Florig, 48, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at home.
Born March 21, 1967, son of Ron and Barbara Forsythe Florig, John grew up in Austintown.
He attended St. Joseph and St. Christine grade schools, graduated from Ursuline High School in 1985, and attended Youngstown State University.
John moved to Texas in 1991.
He married Pamela Sue Straniak on May 25, 1995, in Dallas.
John and Pam founded their business, Folicure Inc., where he was most recently employed and she is currently employed. Pam and John enjoyed traveling and returned very often to Ohio to spend time with family and friends at their home in Geneva on the Lake, where they recently spent the July 4th weekend.
He was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church and a former member of St. Joseph Church, Austintown.
John leaves his parents of Geneva on the Lake; three brothers, Jim of Geneva on the Lake, Dan (Melissa) and nephews Daniel and Jack of Hudson, and Col. William R. Florig (Carlina), U.S. Army and niece Kristin and nephew Matt of Waipahu, Hawaii; uncles Bill (Suzanne) of Youngstown, Tom (Joan) of Destin, Fla., and John (Arina) of Hepzibah, Ga.; and aunt Barbara Florig of Portland, Ore. He also leaves his in-laws Jackie Schmid and Bob Schmid; sister-in-law Christine Lazala and niece Alexis McCallum and nephew Gabe McCallum, all of Dallas; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. Tracy and Sarah Gapin and nephew Graham of Sarasota, Fla. He leaves many cousins and dear friends, with whom he kept in frequent contact.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Dorothy Florig, and Ed and Marie Forsythe; uncle Bob Florig; and father-in-law John Straniak.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 17, at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home Inc.
Services will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, at the funeral home and continue to St. Christine Church for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.
