John J Mahon

July 18, 1930 ~ August 20, 2015 (age 85) 85 Years Old

John J. Mahon passed away on Thursday, August 20, at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born July 18, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio to John and Nora (Gillespie) Mahon.
John attended The Rayen High School, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. John worked at Truscon and the Youngstown Water Department retiring in 1996. He also worked at McVean and Hughes Funeral Home and volunteered as a mass server at St. Columba Cathedral. John is now a member at St. Christine's Church.
He married his childhood sweetheart Mary Audrey (Sullivan) Mahon on April 7, 1951.
John leaves his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Audrey Mahon of Canfield, Son's John (Georgie) Mahon of Boardman and Patrick Mahon of Austintown. Daughter's Madonna (Joe) LoCicero of Canfield, Kathleen Mahon of Austintown and Christine and (Joe) DeLuca with whom he made his home.
He also leaves 9 grandchildren; Justin (Lida) Mahon, Mark (Cassie) Mahon, Kristi Mahon, Sara (Roy) McCollum and Michael (Breanna) Mahon, Amanda and Patrick Mahon and Christina and Alyssa Casity and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son James Mahon, Mother and Father John and Nora Mahon, Brother Patrick Mahon and a sister Mary Johnston.
Friends may call from 2-5 on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Inc.
The Funeral will be held Monday, August 24th at 9:15 at the Funeral Home and a Mass will be held at 10:00am at St. Columba Cathedral with Mons. Polando.
