MARY (ZUNIC) MAJERNIK, 100

Mary Zunic Majernik, age 100, passed away peacefully on Ash Wednesday, March 1st at Hospice of the Valley Care Center. 

Mary was born October 20, 1916 in Prilisce, Croatia, daughter of Barbara (Bolkovac) and John Zunic. She came to the United States in 1929 with her family and was a life-long, active member of Holy apostle- Sts. Peter & Paul Croatian Catholic Church in Youngstown. Mary was a devoted wife and loving mother of seven children. She was an inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing her. 

Her husband, John A., died in 2001. She is survived by her five sons, John (Claire), Leo (Gwen), Bill, Jim (Gerry), all in Canfield, and Len (Joan) Majernik of N. Lima, and two daughters Barbara Simeo of Chicago and Fran (Gerald) Hurayt of Austintown. Two brothers, Nick and Leonard Zunic, a sister Frances Balog, granddaughter, Jeannine Majernik and son-in-law Joseph M.Simeo all preceded her in death. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.  

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 6th at 9:15 AM at the Vaschak-kirila funeral home and 10:00 AM at Holy Apostles- Sts. Peter & Paul Croatian Catholic Church. Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00p.m. Sunday March 5 at the Vaschak-Kirila funeral home. Contributions may be made to Holy Apostle Parish- Sts. Peter & Paul Croatian Catholic Church
