Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4th with a prayer service at 10:15am at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and the funeral mass beginning at 11:00am at St. Columba Church in Youngstown for Mary Ellen Shiller, 63, who passed away on Monday.
She was born January 10, 1954 in Grove City, PA, daughter of Paul Kirila and Elizabeth (Metz) Kirila.
She moved to the Youngstown area to work as an LPN for Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital. Before moving out of PA, she worked for the Metz family Bakery. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Youngstown. She was actively involved in her children’s lives and while they were at St. Joseph School in Austintown she ran the 250 Club fundraiser, started the annual Trash and Treasure sale and was President of the Home and School Association. When her children started at Ursuline High School she worked in the Irish Cottage and was an active volunteer helping with marching band and theater.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Paul Shiller, whom she married June 3, 1989; a daughter, Elizabeth Shiller; a son, Daniel Shiller, one brother, Paul Kirila (and his wife Joanne). She is also survived by a niece and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her Aunt Helen, who raised her after the death of her mother.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7pm, Friday, February 3rd at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., Youngstown, Ohio.
