Thomas L. McCausland, Sr. age 71 of Youngstown passed Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Hospice of the Valley after a valiant fight. He was born May 4,1952 in Dayton, PA. to the late Clair and Sara (Whitacre) McCausland. After graduating Champion High School in 1970, he had several transportation opportunities to grow professionally. Most recently, he worked for the Transportation Department for the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities until his retirement in 2011. Tom took great pride in what he did.
Tom loved life and all types of music, which enabled him to be a great DJ and the life of the party on weekends. In his free time, he loved tinkering in his garage, tending to his transplanted rose bushes, playing with his puppies, and spending lazy days hunting flea markets and auctions.
He is survived by his fiancee, Patty Ritchey of Youngstown, son, Thomas Jr. (Debbie) of Newton Falls, brother, Gary (Diane) of Painesville, OH, grandchildren: Ashley, Courtney, Bethany, Alyssah, Aiden, Frankie, and Allenah. His stepchildren, Connie Ritchey, Billy Ritchey (Ashley).
Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Robert McCausland and his son, Stephen McCausland. The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Vaschak Kirila Funeral Home on Canfield Rd. in Youngstown. A funeral service will begin at 1 pm.
