Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 10:00 at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home for Alethine Glaros, who passed away on April 22, 2018.
Alethine Antonio (Zizes) Glaros was born on April 1, l922, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of Antonios and Irene (Mavrikis) Zizes. She leaves behind her daughters, Sophie (Tom) Davis and Karen "Kurana/Angelica"(Kent Bowden) Glaros; Granddaughter, Alicia (Sauslberry) Williams; Grandsons, Michael (Chelsea) Kacheleries, Christopher (Leanna) Glaros, Tom Davis and Chris (Lori) Davis; Great Grandchildren, Andrea Glaros, Dwaune Riggins, Kiley and Tavia Williams, (triplets) Liam, Keaten, Lilli, and Kamilla Kacheleries, Kessi, Kylie, Jordan Davis, Grace and Reed Davis; Great Great Granddaughter Norah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Michael Glaros Sr., brother, Pete Zizes; Sister, Lamprine “Esther” Scavdis; son and his wife, Michael and Judy Glaros and infant son, Antonio. Alethine graduated from Steubenville High School (Big Red) Class of 1940, moved to Youngstown, Ohio and married Michael Glaros. She was a member of the Choir and Philoptochos Society at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, First Greater New Zion MBC, Burden Bears at Trinity Fellowship Church, R.S.V.P. at Harvard Community Center, Red Hat Ladies, Al-Anon, Blue Bird Den Mother and was diverse in arts and crafts. She retired from kitchen work for the Youngstown City Schools (when they used to serve home-cooked meals in schools) was employed at Lincoln Park Tavern, Ye Old Tavern and co-owned/operated The Three Point Café with her husband in the 70s on the North Side of Youngstown. She taught us to share, care and most of all respect everyone regardless of their ethnicity, type of employment or size of their bank account. Teaching and inspiring us in so many ways, we will all miss “Momma Al” dearly!
Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4-7pm and on Friday, April 27th at 9am at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Rd, Youngstown, Ohio 44511
Interment at Belmont Cemetery, 3346 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
