Anne Marie Vidis

March 23, 1926 ~ March 18, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Anne Marie Vidis left this world in peace at 8:15am, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at The Inn at Christine Valley after a long and fruitful life. A Catholic service was conducted and offered by Rev. George M. Franko for family and friends on March 22, at 10:00am.
Anne Marie was born March 23, 1926 in Zalužice, Slovakia. She was the daughter of Andrew Beres and Mary Levkus Beres who emigrated to Duquesne, PA and later settled in Youngstown.
Anne Marie's parents were active members of Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Youngstown, where Anne Marie married Thomas J. Vidis on July 26, 1947. Their family later were members of St. Joseph Parish in Austintown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband who died Nov. 3, 1998 after 51 years of marriage, and her sister, Helen D'Angelo who died Jan. 23, 2011. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Janet Vidis of Cypress, Texas and sisters, Mary Keightly and Margaret Julian.
Anne Marie attended Holy Name Parochial School, Chaney High School and Youngstown State University where she earned her BS Degree in Education and Westminster College where she graduated with a MA Degree in Education. She taught at St. Christine Parochial School and the Youngstown Public Schools. She was active in Holy Name Parish serving many years at CCD Coordinator, Director of it's Youth Chorale Group and part-time secretary.
She loved her church and the Catholic Liturgy. She loved music and reading and, fluent in Slovak, she became an interesting conversationalist. More than a hobby, she never tired of caring for birds, field animals and dogs. Dogs especially were dear to her heart.
Anne Marie was active in the American Slovak Cultural Association of the Mahoning Valley, and the Slovak Catholic Federation, holding offices if Secretary, Treasurer and Trustee.
Anne Marie loved her Catholic Faith and devoted her life to God, Church and family. The family asks that friends honor her request of being remembered in prayers, especially at mass.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and thanks to Mahoning Valley Hospice, their staff and the staff at The Inn at Christine Valley for their dedication and care given to Anne Marie.
