YOUNGSTOWN- A Mass of Christian Burial services will be Thursday, May 17th at 10:00 at SS. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish for Frances M. Rogan, 98, who passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
Frances was born June 8, 1919 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late John and Rose Martinovich Mikovich and lived in Youngstown the majority of her life. She graduated from
The Rayen School in 1937 and from the Secretarial School of Youngstown College. She was then employed as the bookkeeper at Alpine Lumber Company in Youngstown. After her marriage on January 25, 1941 to John H. Rogan, she was employed as a bookkeeper at the Hamilton Hotel in Washington, DC.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish her entire life and currently was a member of the Daughters of Sts. Peter and Paul. She was a long time member and treasurer of the former Altar Rosary Society at the church. Frances was a 79 year member of St. George Lodge 66 of the Croatian Fraternal Union where she served as Financial Secretary/Treasurer for nearly 30 years and represented the lodge at several events and functions throughout the country for many years. While her children were in the Youngstown City Schools, Frances was active in the PTA and other organizations at every school on the west side. She was active in several professional auxiliary organizations and worked with her husband in his accounting practice for many years.
Frances will be greatly missed by the many people in her life, especially her family.
She leaves behind her children, twin daughters Rose Heckert of Weston, Fl and Goldie (Bob) George of Bradenton, Fl, J. James (Martha) Rogan of Danville, Ky, and Patty Moran of Austintown; seven grandchildren Kim (Scott) Childs of Adrian, Mi, Tom Heckert of Cheboygan, Mi, Michael (Janet) George of Medina, Mark (Marie) George of Cape Coral Fl, Michelle George of Akron, Aaron (Allison) Moran of Austintown and Sarah (Adam) DeLong of Howland. She also leaves eight great-grandchildren Amelia (Bob) Dangler, Noah Bohl, Ashlyn Childs, Griffin and Madison Heckert, Brooklynn and Gabriella Moran, and Ben and Dalton DeLong. She also leaves one great-great grandchild Parker Dangler. In addition, she leaves two nieces whom she helped raise, Paulette Mikovich and Renee Rudd; and a nephew Gus Rogan who helped maintain her home.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 66 years John H. Rogan, and a brother, John "Micker" Mikovich. and two son in laws, Tom Heckert and Edward Moran.
Friends may call at the Vaschak-Kirila funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at SS.Peter and Paul Church Thursday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. prior to the Mass.
