Margaret (Batcha) Banjo, 100, born Sept. 19, 1916, died peacefully on Sept., 16, 2017, at Hampton Woods Assisted Living, three days before her 101st birthday.
Born in, and a lifetime resident of Youngstown, she was the daughter of George and Mary Kral Batcha.
A wonderful, compassionate and caring person, she is survived by her children, Joseph of Sanford, N.C., Marilyn Neuenschwander (Mario) of Lima, Peru, Richard (Mellie) of Jacksonville, Fla., Madeline Sandy (Jerry) of Savannah, Ga., and Marian Hrelec (Nick) of Campbell.
Margaret was happily married to Joseph Michael Banjo from 1940 until his death in 1974.
She also leaves eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Margaret was a 1934 graduate of Youngstown’s South High School and was well-known for her pastries and wedding cakes she made for her many friends and relatives.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of Our lady of Sorrows/ St. Matthias Catholic Church for her lifetime.
Family and friends may call on Friday, Sept. 22, at Our Lady of Sorrows/St. Matthias Catholic Church from 10 to 11 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m.
