Private services were held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 for Margaret E Mazei, who passed away March 17, 2019. Margaret was born December 13, 1918, a daughter of John Shofie and Elizabeth Dobos Shofie. She was a 1937 graduate of South High School and belonged to St. Christine's Catholic Church, where she was a founding member. She was also a Golden Patron Member of the Infant of Prague. She worked in the billing department of U.S. Steel McDonald Works, retiring in 1973. Surviving are a son, David J. (Shirley) Mazei of Austintown; a daughter, Joan E. Cannatti of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Jonathan (Nicole) Mazei of Boardman, Todd (Julie) Mazei of Columbiana, and Christopher Cannatti, Carrie (Derek) Kistler, and Courtney Cannatti all of Texas; great grandchildren, Matthew Mazei, Averi Mazei, Marshall Mazei, and Stephen Cannatti; a niece Sue Herman; and nephews, Richard (Pauline) Herman, Donald (Kathy) Sopko, and Jack Sopko. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John P. Mazei, whom she married in 1940; and sisters, Elizabeth, Julianna and Helen. The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Wilkins, and her caregivers at Austintown Healthcare Center for their compassionate care.
