Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Christine’s Church for Mary Polak, 92, who passed away on Monday, July 10.
She was born Dec. 11, 1924, in Youngstown, daughter of Matthew Polak and Christina (Matus) Polak.
Mary was a graduate of South High School and worked as a secretary for Republic Steel in Youngstown and went on to work as a hairdresser for over 20 years.
She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows-Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church. She was a world traveler, and no crossword puzzle ever got the best of her.
She was a generous, loving daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. She was known to all as “Aunt Mary.”
Surviving are her loving sister, Anne Nackino of Youngstown and sister-in-law Eva Polak of Youngstown. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephew, Daryle Moore (Dennis), Davene Yankle (James), Matthew Polak (Karen) and her great-nieces and great-nephews Whitney (Jeffrey) Taylor, Kristian, Dylan, Chandler, Spencer and Colton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, George and Matthew Polak.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 17, 2017, from 10  to 11 a.m. at St. Christine's Church.
