Vesta Frances Prus, 93, passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Poland on January 26, 2019 with family by her side.
Vesta was born in Winona, OH on January 15, 1926. The doctor arrived on horseback because the snow was too deep to travel by automobile. He waited three days for her arrival. She was an only child, the daughter of Jess and Olive (Weaver) Whitton.
Vesta was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1944. She worked for Electric Furnace in her early professional life and ultimately became a master seamstress doing alterations for people all over the area. She was a member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church, a member of the Joy Circle and one of the eldest members of the church. Her faith served as the foundation for which she lived her life. Vesta always enjoyed visiting with friends and telling stories.
Vesta is survived by her son, Kevin (Ginny) Prus, of Canfield; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Donald) Ursich, of Raleigh, NC and Kevin Prus Jr. of Lisbon; four great-grandchildren Maxwell and Olivia Ursich and Emmerson and Paisley Prus. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter in-law, Dawn Prus.
Arrangements and memorial services will be handled by Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home in Cornersburg. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the funeral home.
A service celebrating Vesta's life will be held at East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 State Route 558, New Waterford, Ohio 44445-9745 on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11:00 am. .
In lieu of flowers monetary contributions may be sent to her church. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Salem, OH at a later date.
