CAROL LILLIAN METZKA

1947-2025

Carol Lillian Metzka went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on her 78th birthday December 9th, 2025. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 9th, 1947, to the late Edward and Julia Neill. Carol graduated from East High School in 1965 and then Ohio-Penn Junior College. She worked at US Steel until the birth of her first child and in 1983 she began assisting in her husband's insurance agency, even spending time as a licensed agent. Thereafter, she was employed in telecommunications with active roles in sales, retention and customer service before her retirement. Carol loved Jesus and spent her personal time helping and serving others. For over 50 years, she participated in and was a speaker to various ministries and served as the President for an all-women’s ministry. She had a passion for those with substance abuse, having been involved with Teen Challenge for many years. Carol is best known for her heart and how she wore it on her sleeve. She was always ready to love, never hesitated to help others, and was never shy to share the Gospel nor voice her opinion. She passionately invited people to know Jesus, offered to pray for them, and invited them to her church, Bridge of Hope. Her faith was lived out in the open as she wanted all to know that Grace is freely available to anybody that chooses to seek it out. She always made efforts to help those in need by buying groceries, clothing, or household items and encouraged everybody with her favorite bible verse, Romans 8:28. Carol leaves behind her husband of 53 years, George Metzka Sr. and their two children, Christine (Bill) Ischy of Pataskala and George Jr. (Jaime) Metzka of Pickerington and f ive grandsons: Jacob, Thomas, and Daniel Ischy and James Theodore and Benjamin Metzka, all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind two siblings, Patty (Joe) Brooks, and Edward (Patti) Neill. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister Nancy Tack. She loved to dance with her husband and enjoyed family get togethers, especially with her nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home. Visitation and the funeral service will be Monday, December 22 at Bridge of Hope, 7580 Glenwood Avenue. Boardman. Visitation is 10:00am-12:00noon and the funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
