BOARDMAN

Cecelia Mary Dutko, 96, of Boardman passed peacefully into eternal rest on December 19, 2024 after a long illness.

Born November 25, 1928, she was the oldest of five children to the late Andrew P. Grecko and MaryAnn Treyan Grecko.  She attended St. Cyril and Methodius grade school then Rayen High School graduating in 1947.

On May 26, 1951, she married Joseph J. Dutko, moving to Cleveland, Ohio.  Together they had five children living in several Northeastern Ohio cities during the early decades of their marriage.  In each city, Cecelia was a strong volunteer supporting her children’s Catholic grade schools.  She was a Campfire girls troop leader for her daughters and a sports Mom for her boys.

She was a consummate homemaker taking great pride in her needlework, crafting and baking.  Christmas was her favorite holiday.  In later years, gardening and crafting were her hobbies.

She won first place at the Canfield Fair.  Community Slovak heritage programs were important to her.  She was a yearly volunteer in the International Building.

In her retirement years, she was a member of St. Charles Church where she participated in the gardening club, liturgical committee and volunteered at several church annual events.

Cecelia loved talk radio especially broadcasts of YSU football and basketball games.  She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Guardians.

Proceeded in death by her husband Joseph and her son Charles, she is survived by her brother Adrian M. Grecko (Betty), Boardman, daughters Patricia A. (Gerald F.) McCann, Canton, Nancy Ruth Dutko, Boardman sons Joseph M. Dutko, Endwell, New York, Robert J. Dutko, Melbourne, Florida and daughter-in-law Carol L. Poczekay Dutko, Lafayette, Indiana.

She also leaves four grandsons, Douglas B. McCann (Londa), Casey R McCann (Chelsea), Timothy N McCann (Amy) and William C. McCann (Cassidy).

McCann great grand children include Devlin, Kayleigh, Riley, Connor, Cullen, Everleigh, Tyler, Brady, Olivia and Jackson.

A Mass of Remembrance will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman on Monday, December 30th at 11am.  A visitation hour will be held from 10-11am that morning.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. or Boardman Lifetrans Police/Fire Department.
