Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Christine's Church  for Clara E Blumetti, 96, who passed away on June 4, 2018.  Clara was "Borned a Coal Miner's Daughter" on January 7, 1922 to Salvatore Mancuso and Johanna Mishanik coming here in 1930. Clara was a charter member of St. Christine's Church. She was a graduate of East High School. Her first and favorite job was at Woolworths store in downtown Youngstown.  She retired after 17 years as a cleaning matron from the Youngstown Board of Education. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home, and to her, family was everything. At a young age, she became the family caregiver and problem solver. Her first husband was Corporal Lawrence J. Snovak, he died of injuries sustained on D-Day which was June 6, 1944. Her second husband was Paul J. Blumetti, whom she married September 5, 1948. He passed  away in April of 1996.  Clara was an avid football fan and she always had a favorite quarterback. In her later years, she took a whirlwind trip to Germany, France and Italy. She rode and was serenaded in a gondola in Venice, she walked the Champs De Elysee on a rainy evening and visited the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. She had a play written about her life by her granddaughter Alyssa, the title was Clara, and it was the audience pick of the 2016 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. She was interviewed for the local Ken Burns WWII Project, which is posted on You-Tube. Surviving are three daughters; Mary L. (Donald) O'Brien of Austintown, Jeanette (Stephen) Lynn of Poland, and Paula (Ernest) Michaud of Avon Lake; two sisters Dorothy Kraynik and Elvira Lightner of Youngstown; six grandchildren,  Lawrence O'Brien, Colonel John O'Brien USAF, David Lynn, Andrew Lynn, Alyssa Michaud and Scott Michaud; Six great grandchildren, Aubrey, Jersey, Chloe, Aidan, Kayleigh and Connor O'Brien. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both spouses, and brother Gene Mancuso. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise of Poland, Crossroads Hospice and Loving Hands Caregivers for their wonderful care and concern. Visitation will be held on Friday June 8, 2018 at 9:30am to 11:00am preceding the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the local Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) Chapter 2, 1327 Huntington Court, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
