DONNA J. MEIKLE

                Donna J. Meikle, 87, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving sisters, at the Inn at Ironwood, Canfield, Ohio.

                Donna was born March 31, 1937 in Campbell, Ohio, a daughter of the late Nicholas Bubon and Eva Skurich Bubon.  She was a graduate of South High School, class of 1955. 

Donna married David R. Meikle, on April 27, 1969.

                Donna worked at Ohio Bell Telephone from 1955 to 1987.  She then worked at Truscon Steel, which later became LTV Steel, retiring in 1999.  Following David’s retirement  in 2004, the couple moved to Estero, Florida and the Villages, Florida for several years, where they enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and going to the casino. They returned to Canfield in 2019.

                Donna enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a tremendous cook, who always began every dinner with a glass or two of wine.  Family gatherings always included singing “zhivio” altogether, to toast the occasion.  Donna was highly organized, keeping a file and notes on just about everything.  She and David were always there to help their family and friends in need. 

                Donna is survived by her brother, Dan Bubon, sisters, Dolores Bubon Glaros Bowyer, Joanne Bubon Davis, Patricia Bubon Boehringer, Sharon Bubon Swager (Ken), Cathy Bubon  Young (Bill), sister-in-law, Margaret Rango Bubon, and many nieces and nephews.

                Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband of  52  years, David R. Meikle, her parents, Nicholas and Eva Bubon, brother, Nicholas Bubon, sister, Nancy Bubon, brothers- in-law, Jack Glaros, Worthy (Butch) Bowyer, William Davis, and step-mother, Ann Bubon.

                Family and friends will be received at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., Youngstown, Ohio on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be a prayer service at 11:00am.

                In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 39 Laird Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44509.
