GEORGE EARL JOHNSTON

1930-2025

George Earl Johnston passed away Monday, November 17, 2025 at the age of 94.

He was born December 4, 1930 to Ross and Marie Hall Johnston in Latrobe, PA.

He attended Youngstown College one year before being drafted into the Army.

George married the love of his life, Mary Theresa Mahon, May 2, 1952.  They shared 57 years together before her passing January 12, 2010.

George worked in customer relations for Ohio Edison retiring in 1986.

He enjoyed swimming at the Jewish Community Center, going to Mountaineer and traveling.

George was preceded in death by his wife Mary, infant son Mark, parents and brothers William and Kenneth.

He is survived by his nieces Madonna (Joe) LoCicero of Canfield, Kathleen Mahon of Mineral Ridge, Christine (Joe) DeLuca of Canfield, Laura Murphy, Susan (Russell) Styranec, both of Sharon, PA, Karen C. (Robert) Donaldson of Leavenworth, KS.  Nephews Pat Mahon, Mineral Ridge and Ernest Johnston of Florida.

The family would like to thank the staff of the 600 unit of Austin Woods for their kindness and care given to their uncle.

Private services were held November 21st.  George was buried at Calvary Cemetery next to his wife Mary.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home.
