Gloria Cellio

Gloria J. (Dellesky) Cellio passed from this life on June 8, 2024. Gloria was born on August 10, 1940, the daughter of Ted and Mary (Balog) Dellesky in Girard, Ohio.  She graduated in 1958 from Girard High School where she was a majorette and part of the marching band.
Gloria married the late Leo Cellio Jr. on June 24, 1961 and together they raised two daughters.  In her circle, Gloria was possibly best known for her Sunday dinners, which began right after she married and continued throughout her life, rarely missing a Sunday.  At her table, family-and at times friends and even acquaintances-would have the pleasure of gathering together for a wonderful pasta dinner.  Those in attendance would sometimes change, but the menu and tradition remained, seeing five generations of family throughout the years.  In addition to her cooking, she was also an excellent baker known for her cakes, kolaches and cookies.
Gloria worked for the Bureau of Workers Compensation for 25 years, retiring in 2002.  After retirement she spent much of her time with family and friends and also took part in several lunch and dinner groups.  Throughout the years, she was involved in volleyball and bowling leagues, Bible studies and class reunion committees.  She enjoyed shopping with her daughters, traveling, light gardening, crocheting and sewing.  She was an avid Cleveland Cavs fan and enjoyed watching the games and later discussing them with her grandsons.  A lifelong member of the Catholic Church, Gloria participated in home and school activities, church fundraisers and the Women’s Renewal Group.
Gloria went above and beyond caring for family members when they were infirmed, showing great dedication and selflessness.  Her generosity and sense of caring surpassed excellence.  She went above and beyond for her family and for those she loved.  Living life as she did, she will be sure to hear the words of her Savior, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Dan) O’Brien and Angela (Jim) Stille; grandchildren Michael Conkey and his partner Amber Irvin, Ian O’Brien and Andrew Stille; great-grandchildren Olivia and Leo Conkey; sisters Mary Ann Dellesky and Rosemarie Olesky; sister-in-law Barbara Dellesky, best friend Dorothy Mayoras and several nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.  She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, and her brother Ted Dellesky.
Friends may pay their respects at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home in Youngstown on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4-7pm.  A prayer service will be held at 6:45pm that evening.  A celebration of life luncheon is planned for a later date.
