North Olmsted, Ohio
Helen Joan Crish
1928-2025
Helen Crish, 97, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at her home in North Olmsted, OH.
Helen was born March 10, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (Potuczko) Czopur. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Carmen Jr., who passed away in 2018. Helen was a June bride marrying Carmen in 1949 after meeting at Idora Park. She leaves two sons, James of North Olmsted, Ohio and Timothy (Phyllis) of Spring Hill, Kansas, and two granddaughters, Ashley and Elizabeth.
Helen was a life-long member of St Brendan Church and a devoted bingo player going regularly with her sister Mary. Helen treasured each moment being with family especially spending time with her two granddaughters. She loved baking and cooking especially for the Easter and Christmas seasons with bread, stuffed cabbage and kolachi. Her homemade pierogis were the best. She also enjoyed cheering for the University of Notre Dame football team and was thrilled when Ashley played clarinet in the ND Marching Band while attending college.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Edward Czopur, and five sisters, Veronica Simerlink, Viola Duritza, Josephine Adams, Mary Bralish and Margaret Bigley.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice staff for all of the care and comfort they provided to our Mom.
Friends may call from 10 to 11AM, Monday, April 7, 2025 at St. Brendan Church, with the funeral mass at 11 AM.
Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home handled all of the arrangements for the family.
