James Michael Majernik
1948-2025
James Michael Majernik was born on May 16, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years. Geraldine E. Majernik, his daughter Julie (Chris) Solvesky, adored grandchildren Audrey and Christopher Solvesky, and favorite dog Moose. He is also survived by his siblings Fran (Jerry) Hurayt, Leo Majernik, Barbara Simeo, Bill Majernik, Len (Joan) Majernik and sister-in-law Claire Majernik and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was proceeded in death by his parents John and Mary Majernik, brother John Majernik, sister-in-law Gwen Majernik and brother-in-law Joe Simeo.
A Vietnam veteran, Jim was stationed in KonTum in the central highlands as a radio repair man for the Army signal Corps. After coming home from the war, Jim worked and retired from Ohio Edison as a lineman and top troubleshooter for 38 years. For many years Jim had a side business J & G Wine Supplies, where he sold wine supplies. An educated people on the wine making process. In addition to his love of gardening, Jim devoted every spare moment of his life to his daughter helping her build her dream of a horse training business from the ground up.
Anyone that knew Jim Majernik heard a few things. He loved to give you a nickname, tell you (No need) for materiel objects and extra spending and inform you on his current political excitements. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church. He especially enjoyed Sunday morning 7am Mass at St. Paul Monetary which was right across the street from the farm. Anybody that had a spare moment with Jim felt as if they were part of his family because of his incredibly generous and kind nature. A resourceful man, Jim was known as the hardest working person around with an incomparable work ethic.
He adored preparing salads, cheese, crackers and his homemade wine especially on Sundays. Jim was fond of handing out his excess garden produce. At the end of the day, he would never forget to button up everything and say his good nights.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 15th at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home from 4pm-7pm. There will be an hour visitation from 10-11am on Wednesday, April 16th and a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Church on Covington Ave.
Vaschak-Kirila handled all of the arrangements for the family.
