Martha Snovak Obituary

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 9:30 am at the Vaschak - Kirila Funeral Home with Mass to follow at 10:00 am at St. Christine’s Church for Martha E. (Lee) Snovak who passed away on Friday, April 6.
Martha was born on March 3, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of Marion J. Lee and Martha (Gallagher) Lee. She was a lifelong area resident.
Martha attended East High School. She worked at various jobs throughout her life which included selling Avon, working in grocery stores, G. F. and Youngstown City Schools as a cleaning matron.
When her children were young, Martha was active in Camp Fire Girls and Boy Scouts. She was an amazing homemaker who had a passion for cooking, baking, canning, and sewing. She also loved camping and passed that love onto all her children.
Martha was an active member at Lake Village Camplands in Andover. She served on many committees. She served on the membership and activities committees and was a member of the Seniors Association and the board. Spaghetti dinners were one of Mattha’s specialties which prompted her to organize several benefit spaghetti dinners at the campground.
Martha’s family remembers how she always put her family first, welcomed neighborhood friends into her home and how she valued connecting to all people. She taught her children to work hard while still having fun. She loved family gatherings, dancing, trips to casinos, rides through Mill Creek Park, playing cards and good conversation. Martha also enjoyed her many visits from her niece and godchild, Beth, which blossomed into a very special relationship.
Martha spent her last weeks being cared for by her family and the caring staff at Humility House. Martha often said, “I’ve lived a good life.” And family and friends agree that she lived life to the fullest.
Martha is survived by her children, Graigh Snovak of Austintown, Barbara (Ed) Howley of Austintown, Cecilia (Gus) Krauss of California, Patricia (Jeff) Pearch of Youngstown, and Linda (Steve) Rice of Indianapolis. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her eldest son, Joseph Jr., and her brothers Marion and Billy and sisters Kitty, Georgia and Lillian
