Mary Ann Bodnark Obituary

Canfield - Mary Ann (Murray) Bodnark passed away peacefully on Sunday February 9th, 2025 with her husband and two sons at her side.

Mary Ann was born on December 25, 1955 Christmas Day in Cleveland Ohio with bright red hair.

Her parents were Cornelius (Neal) Murray and Anita (Parilla) Murray.

She was married to John Bodnark on August 10 1985 for 39 years.

They have two sons, Nicholas and Matthew.

She was a proud graduate of Ursuline High School in 1974 and went on to achieve her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design from Youngstown State University.

She later became a 40 year employee at Youngstown State University and was a staple in the Marketing and Communications department as a Layout Design Artist.

Mary Ann was very active with Boy Scouts of America with her two sons. She was an important part of the Troop leadership and held a position as part of the rank advancement committee.

One of her favorite hobbies was genealogy; researching and documenting the family history of her husband and herself. She was always eager to help create all media that was needed for family and special events.

She was known for her beautiful red hair inherited from her Irish and Italian grandparents. She was teased by her family and friends due to her tardiness, she was on “Mary Ann time” compared to everyone else's time.

Mary Ann loved family time and gatherings. Her famous desserts, Death-By-Chocolate cake and fruit with strawberry fluff, were everyone’s favorite desserts at parties.

Mary Ann always saw the good in people, she was a peacemaker.

Above all else, she was a devoted mother and loved her sons.

Mary Ann’s memory will be cherished by her husband John, her sons Nicholas and Matthew, her siblings Karen (Larry) Lewis, Tom (Gena) Murray, Patricia (Rick) Pedaline, Kelly (Michael) Burich, her mother-in-law Loretta Bodnark, 11 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law.

Calling hours will be 10-11 am following a mass of Christian burial 11:00 am on Thursday, February 13 2025 at St. Christine Church

May eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
