Youngstown
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear sister and friend Phyllis Ann Engler.
She was the most generous and kind person to everyone she met. She dedicated her whole life to education of city school children with enthusiasm, creativity and generosity in her service.
Phyllis was born March 7th, 1953 to parents Jennie Engler Miller and Cyrus Engler, Phyllis grew up and received her early education from Mathews High School. She grew up on the family farm, which explained her love of ham and BBQ ribs. She loved to read and watch the news but most of all she loved to shop! There were many trips to Wal-Mart in which she left the store with carts overflowing! Many friends will miss all the fun shopping trips.
Phyllis completed her Bachelors and Masters degree at YSU in Education and served as a devoted special education teacher at several Youngstown City Schools.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Darlene Engler, brother-in-law Don Boothby. She is survived by her brother Richard (Diane Reese) Engler, Cortland, a sister, Frances (Bill) Blatchford, Austintown, a sister Darlene Boothby, Mocksville, NC.
She will be missed by many nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be private.
