Rosemary (Tusin) Gonda

Rosemarie Gonda, 89, of Boardman, passed away on February 22, 2024 at Hospice of Valley.

Rosemarie was born on October 3, 1934 in Youngstown to parents Joseph and Rose (Pupich) Tusin and was one of 11 children. She attended Youngstown City Schools, including Woodrow Wilson High School. On November 19, 1960, she married her husband, Sylvestor and together they raised their children. Rose was a waitress for Silver Mirror for 25 years and enjoyed bowling, coloring, and church functions but Rose’s favorite time spent was spending time with her family.

Rosemarie was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows St. Matthias Church, she loved her church family, and any time spent practicing her Catholic religion.

Rosemarie leaves her surviving children to cherish her memory; Charles (Jennifer) Gonda of North Carolina, Sylvester Gonda Jr of Youngstown, Violet Sparo of New Mexico, Mary (Kevin) Ahlquist of Boardman, and Margaret (Joe) Kirkpatrick of Youngstown, 22 grandchildren and 30 great – grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Gonda Sr ( 2011), her son, Joseph Gonda, her parents Rose and Joseph Tusin and her siblings, Margaret Potonsky, William Tusin, Matthew Tusin, Ginny Markivch, Mary Markivch, Richard Tusin, Walter Tusin, Helan McVicker, Matilda Tusin and Caroline Palmer.

She loved time spent with her family more than anything else.  Family and friends will mourn her loss but celebrate her memory.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 10-11:00am at St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell St, Youngstown, Ohio 44502 with a 11:00am Mass to follow. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
