Swanny Furden departed this life on Sunday, March 24, 2024 after a short illness.
A son of Thomas and Katherine Orinchak Furden, Swanny was born May 31, 1936 , in Youngstown, Ohio. He retired from AA Samuels Sheet Metal after a long career with the company.
Swanny was a devout catholic and attended masses at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Holy Name and St. Anne Parishes, among others.He was a long-time member of the local YMCA and the Jewish Community Center where he regularly worked out for health and fitness. Swanny was also a military veteran, having proudly served in the Marines.
Swanny was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Myra Mamonis and Roselyn Furden. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sisters, Caroline Furden, and Margaret Furden of Oregon; his daughter, Jacqueline Furden, and nieces Katherine Mamonis, Angela Mikulka, Alexsandra Mamonis Lazarides and Michelle Furden, along with great-nieces and nephews and two great-great nephews, a cousin Mike. Swanny remained loved by his former wife, Dorothy Jean Sprankle.
Calling hours will be held April 4, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Norquest Blvd in Austintown, where a full mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 at the church, followed by a Mercy Meal at the church.
