William J. Glaros
1929-2024
William Glaros died peacefully surrounded by family on December 4, 2024 at the Hospice House in North Lima.
He was born on September 1, 1929 to James and Argyro (Charnas) Glaros. He graduated from South High in 1948 and went on to be a structural iron worker for Local #207 for 46 years retiring in 1994. William joined the Army in 1951 and was involved in the Korean conflict.
He then married the love of his life Joyce Koonse on May 5, 1958. Together they had 4 children, Michael Glaros of Austintown, Michele Hammond of Canfield, her husband Rich also of Canfield and Melinda Glaros (Miguel Montes) of California. He had another son Matthew who is deceased.
William had 6 grandchildren who he adored, Amanda Glaros, Erin Saba, Monique Marks, Jeremy Hammond, Nicholas Montes and Nathaniel Montes.
Bill was an avid golfer with three holes in one in his golfing career, He was a member of The Eagles and American Legion. He was a stranger to no one. Bill enjoyed his family and was always the life of the party.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his son Matthew and a brother John.
There will be a calling hour from 10-11am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 and a service following at 11am at St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church on Glenwood Avenue in Youngstown.
