Mr. Kirila was a 1947 graduate of the Renouard Training School for Embalmers in New York City, a Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule. In the fall of 1948 he graduated from the Cleveland College of Mortuary Science. He also owned and operated an Ambulance Service from 1952 to 1982.

Mr. Kirila, Sr. passed away on April 6, 1989. With the passing of both Mr. Kirila, Sr. in 1989 and Mr. Joseph Vaschak in 1985, Michael J. Kirila, Jr. became the owner of both funeral homes.

The Kirila Funeral Home in Struthers, Ohio is currently managed and operated by licensed funeral director and embalmer, Anthony J. Quahliero, Jr.
