Private funeral services were held on Friday, July 29th at Calvary Cemetery Chapel for Dorothy  Novotny, 79, who passed away on July 21, 2016. She was born May 7, 1937 in  Youngstown, Ohio daughter of John Edward Novotny and Mary P. Hatala.
Dorothy was a 1955 graduate of Ursuline High School, she received a Bachelors in education at Youngstown College and a went on to receive her masters in education from Dayton. She worked as a teacher and principle until retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Christine church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the AARP, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, a former board member of the Diagnostic & Evaluation Clinic, the National Association of Supervisors, the National Association of Math Teachers, and a Catholic alumni club M.C.R.T.A ; O.R.T.A.
Surviving are a sister; Mrs. Irene Drabison of Youngstown. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Rev. Robert J. Novotny, Rev. Edward D. Novotny, C.P.P.S, James Novotny and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Dean.
