Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29th at 11:00am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church for Helen Brahos, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, August 23rd. She was born in Paleokastro, Greece, in 1926, the daughter of Reverend Demetrios Siatras and Presvitera Zaharoula Siatras. She was married to the late Constantine (Kostas) Brahos, whom she married January 31, 1944. She leaves behind a son, Demetrios (Jim) Brahos of Austintown, and a daughter, Katherine Brahos Kermetz, and a son-in-law Lewis Richard Kremetz.
She was the second oldest of five siblings. Her brothers Constantine (Kostas) Siatras and sister, Sanoukou (Anna) Triantafilou both live in Greece. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Her oldest sister Despina passed away from an epidemic at the tender age of eight. The youngest sister was named after the first sister Despina (Despo) Siatras Bandi, who also passed away 15 years ago.
She worked very hard from a very young age and endured the hardships and tragedies of World War II.
She has belonged to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown since 1951, A pass member of the St. Nicholas Philoptochos Society. She worked hard and will be remembered for her kindness to everyone she knew.
Friends will be received on Sunday, August 28th from 2 to 5pm with a Trisagion Service at 4:30 pm.at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., Youngstown, Ohio, and on Monday, August 29th from 10:30am to 11:00am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
