Born on January 4, 1940 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. Father was Stephen R. Vrabel and Mother was Violet Przelomski Vrabel. Educated at St. Stanislaus Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson High School and Youngstown University where he received a B.A. in Economics in 1961. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Naval School of Flight in Pensacola, Florida. He was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy. He participated in the Cuban Missile Quarantine and served in the Republic of Vietnam. He completed his military obligation in 1965. He was employed by U.S. Steel Corporation. Youngstown Sheet and Tube, W.R. Grace & Company, Coopers & Lybrand, and Scott Fetzer Company. He retired in 1982 and moved to Florida to be near his parents. While in Florida, he became Chief Financial Officer of a private firm in Ft. Lauderdale.
He was married to Barbara Hepplewhite in 1967. He had three children with her. Stephanie Leib of Akron, Ohio, Jacqueline Martin of North Lima, Ohio and Christopher (Deon) Vrabel of Canfield, Ohio. His second wife Pamela, whom he married in 1984, passed away on May 4, 2015. Besides his children, he leaves five grandchildren: Jesse Martin of Boardman, Paige Martin of North Lima, Ohio, Olivia Leib of Akron, Ohio, Jenna and Jamie Vrabel both of Canfield, Ohio. He is a past member of the U.S. Navy League, The Skyhawk Association, the Tailhook Association, the U.S. Naval Institute, U.S. Naval Museum and the Palm Beach Board of Realtors.
