Helen Jo Ricci, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 7, 2015, at Caprice Health Care Center in North Lima, Ohio.
Helen was born November 18, 1923, at her parents’ home in Campbell, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Granitowski) Korecki.
Helen graduated from Campbell Memorial High School, where she enjoyed being a majorette. After high school, she went on to work at several jobs before getting a position at the General Electric facility on Market Street in Youngstown, Ohio.
On June 19, 1948, Helen married Romeo J. Ricci and was happily married to him for over 65 years before his passing on April 2, 2014.
Helen belonged to St. Edward Church. She was a member of the Ladies Guild of the Knights of Columbus, and was active in their bowling league. Helen hosted many fashion shows within The Ladies Guild. She loved to dance, especially the polka. Helen was very fond of playing cards with her family, especially her sisters, and enjoyed many other activities that included time spent with family. Helen was affectionately known to all family members as “Honey.”
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her three sisters, Mrs. Ann Gardner, Mrs. Mary H. Kirila and Ms. Julia K. Williams; and two brothers, Mr. John Korecki and Mr. Michael Korecki.
Helen will be missed by her daughter, Mary Ann (Anthony) Donnadio, two grandchildren, Michelle Ann (Douglas) Shaffer, Tammy Marie Donnadio, and one great grandchild, Gianna Marie Shaffer.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Road, Youngstown, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, Ohio. A viewing at the church will start at 9:30 am, followed by a mass at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the nurses, aides, and staff at Caprice Health Care Center for the love, compassion, and wonderful care shown to Helen during her stay. The family would also like to thank Harbor Lights Hospice for their assistance and compassion during this difficult time.
