Dear Cathy and family,
Due to illness I and Mom could not attend.
However, we all wish you are well in this time of grief.
Gene was one of the finest and most loving men I have ever known. He comes from great stock -- his family -- our family. Gene loved because he learned love from his parents. Aunt Susan (Assunta) was a extremely loving person. When she huged me I felt well and truly hugged. She was a gift and a blessing -- Gene was the same -- a gift and a blessing to our family and to all who knew him.
Your loss and ours are profound.

As we live our lives, we come to realize that prayer,loving thoughts,and kind words can, in some small way help alleviate the pain and sorrow of loss. I send you a million of each.
In reading of the life you and Gene shared, the family you created and the faith life you have lived, it becomes evident how special a man he was and what a void his loss leaves. Cathy, the source of these words is unknown to me, but they seem to apply to your beloved husband.
What we do for ourselves alone dies with us,
What we do for others lives on and is immortal.
I am sorry we cannot be with you , but know you and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers.
